REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING • JANUARY 19, 2026
Mayor Rob Lessen called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance stated by all present. Roll call taken and all members except Carma Burns were present. The minutes of the previous meeting presented. Gary Pommier made the motion to approve the minutes from the Jan. 5h meeting. Richard Kerley seconds the motion. The motion approved. Gary Pommier then made the motion to approve the minutes from the work session on Jan. 14th. Richard Kerley seconds the motion. The motion approved. The mayor presented the evenings agenda. Under Unfinished Business Items A tabled until the next meeting and Item C removed from the agenda. Richard Kerley made the motion to accept the revised agenda. Howard Camp seconds the motion. The motion approved.
City Clerk Bette Lessen swore-in newly elected Mayor Rob Lessen.
REPORTS
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Mike McLeod presented to report on the past month's activities. Mike also introduced the city council Brandon Hubbard the department's 1st Assistant and Tim Intessimone who will be the next Fire Chief, Mike stated that he would be retiring March 1st. Tim addressed the council with his background as a firefighter and attorney.
LIBRARIAN
Shelley Corley was present to review the past month with the council. Shelley also reported on the upcoming book delivery and classes that will be held.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
EMPLOYEE SALARY INCREASES
Gary Pommier made the motion to give all hourly employees a .50 cent increase per hour. Richard Kerley seconds the motion. The motion approved.
SERVICE CHARGES
Richard Kerley tabled this topic until the next meeting. Howard Camp seconds the motion. The motion approved.
NEW BUSINESS
PROPERTY NUISANCES
Bette Lessen reported on 3 different properties in Arma that should be considered as a nuisance. Council will review properties and continue discussion at the next meeting.

COUNCIL COMMENTS
Gary Pommier thanked the city workers for a job well done.
Bob Lauck brought up property sales in Arma and the quickness of these sales.
Richard Kerley discussed the 2 new homes that have started in Westland Acres. Also, the old Digger truck will be placed with Purple Wave to be sold.
Howard Camp apologized for not attending the work session due to illness.
Rob Lessen reported on his meeting with KS Municipal Utilities in Topeka last week.

PURCHASE REQUEST
John Austin requested the purchase of the 4 following items.
